Mountain Biking the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park with Kids
After 10 weeks in lockdown, including a week of school holidays, we had serious cabin fever and had to get outdoors. And so we strapped our mountain bikes to the car, and headed for the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
Emma was still a little bit too small for the bike we got her for Christmas, but was itching to get it off the roads and onto the dirt. With her feet only just reaching the ground, we needed an easy route, which was not too steep. We chose the the Murrua Trail since we’d walked a portion of it, and knew it met our criteria. It’s not the most scenic trail, but Emma loved it, and we did see some gorgeous yellow-tailed black cockatoos.
The day started with huge smiles, but took a turn for the worse when Emma got overly ambitious and decided to ride through a huge puddle, hoping for more adventure. Half way through she bogged down, and was forced to put a foot into the mud, ruining her mood for the next kilometre. Thankfully her mood improved as her foot dried, and soon the smiles we’re back. It was a great day out, and hopefully we’ll be back on the trails soon.
